The Botanist
In spring 2025, we became involved in a wonderful urban regeneration project; transforming an iconic old department store in Bournemouth called Bobby’s into a reinvigorated mixed use building to include workspace, retail and hospitality.
Our project focus at Bobby’s was the creation of a brand new The Botanist bar and restaurant located on the fourth floor and spanning some 1285sqm, complete with roof terrace. Incredibly, this was our 26th Project for New World Trading Company, so we’re extremely well rehearsed in meeting their biophilic and botanical design briefs for The Botanist.
Botanist Bournemouth was no different, with huge emphasis on the planting scheme including live and artificial plants in contrasting pots. Positions ranging from flooring standing, mesh hanging, table tops and even chandeliers.
And uniquely for this Botanist we created five breathtaking custom made olive trees. Each tree standing almost 3m tall with a colossal branch canopy spread of approx 4.6m.
The trunks are all authentically gnarly and the very believable, replica olive foliage carries fruits too.
Once completed and in position, spot lighting captures their scale and shape beautifully.
